📝 Overview 📝

Loki is a privacy focused cryptocurrency that was forked from Monero in 2018.

They are not trying to compete with Monero but rather they are trying to use Monero’s privacy features and are developing a lot of unique features that they hope will allow Loki to differentiate themselves.

For example, Loki has a hybrid PoW and PoS blockchain that relies on so called “service nodes” which are self regulating nodes on the network.

These will route information through the network as well as maintaining the integrity by preventing attacks.

You can also use the Loki messenger which is which is one of their firt Service Node Applicatioins (snApps).

They have also developed what is called “Lokinet” which is used for anonymous browsing. Lokinet combines with onion routing to create new private tunnels with access to the internet.

This means that by using Lokinet you will be able to access the SNApps and any website that you like without revealing your IP address.

The Loki team is based in Melbourne, Australia and they have quite diverse backgrounds. Some of the members have even been open source contributors on the Monero project. There was no ICO of the project although they did have a private sale in March of 2018.

In this private sale they managed to sell 15% of their total 150m LOKI tokens – bringing in $9m.

The tokens are currently only trading on two exchanges with those being KuCoin and TradeOgre. The turnover on these exchanges is quite low so you will have to exercise caution with larger block trades.

Currently, the only wallets that you can use to store these tokens are LOKI’s proprietary wallet.
