The Bitcoin Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, will bring together prominent speakers and important debates about the future of cryptocurrency on July 25th-27th. The event, billed as the world’s largest annual celebration of Bitcoin, has generated much interest, especially with former President Donald Trump speaking at it.

Trump’s presence has raised questions and discussions in the crypto community regarding his influence in the upcoming election and his views on cryptocurrency.

Trump’s Changing Stance on Cryptocurrency

Trump will be speaking at a campaign event in Nashville during the Bitcoin Conference, with a top ticket at $844,600 and $60,000 for a photo opportunity. However, a single conference pass costs range from $700 to $21,000 for the rest of the options. The former president of the United States, Donald Trump, who once spoke negatively about BTC and other digital currencies, has changed his attitude and now refers to himself as a ‘crypto candidate. ’ Trump used to call BTC a ‘scam against the US dollar’ and express concerns regarding CBDCs.

However, there is a recent trend where Trump has shown interest in cryptocurrency, and his campaign has begun to accept Bitcoin, Ether, Dogecoin, Solana, and other cryptocurrencies. His vice presidential nominee, Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio, is also a supporter of cryptocurrencies and has invested in Bitcoin through Coinbase, with assets worth between $100,001 and $250,000.

The crypto community is waiting for Trump’s policy strategies on how he will support crypto and blockchain. Despite not explaining particular measures, his recent meetings with Bitcoin miners indicate plans to foster more Bitcoin creation in the country. Moe Vela, a former senior advisor to Joe Biden, pointed to Trump’s appearance at the Bitcoin Conference as a calculated decision that is probably intended to secure the vote of the crypto community.

Bitcoin Conference Key Speakers and Political Figures

Apart from Trump, other political personalities and supporters of crypto will be speaking at the BTC Conference. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent presidential candidate, will speak about how he envisions using blockchain in government services.

Kennedy had ealier suggested that the entire US budget should be put on the blockchain to increase transparency and accountability. He has also favorably spoken of supporting the US Dollar with Bitcoin and has been against the issuance of digital currencies by central banks.

Vivek Ramaswamy, the former GOP presidential candidate, will also be attending the Bitcoin Conference. Ramaswamy, who is a supporter of cryptocurrency, has earlier detailed how he would enhance Bitcoin and stop measures which are viewed as adverse to the cryptocurrency market. His appearance sees this as a indication of the growing political interest in the issue of cryptocurrency as one of the key topics in the upcoming elections.

Some of the notable names from the crypto industry expected to grace the event include Cathie Wood of ARK Investment, Michael Saylor of MicroStrategy, and Edward Snowden, Benjamin Cowen among others.

Vice President Kamala Harris Will Not Attend

The Vice President of the United States of America, Kamala Harris, was also rumored to attend the Bitcoin Conference, but she has declined. David Bailey, the CEO of Bitcoin Magazine, highlighted that Harris’s attendance would have been a point of contention since she has advocated for the regulation of cryptocurrencies.

As reported by Coingape, Harris skipping the event gives the attention back to Trump and what he has to say since he is expected to make a big revelation. There are rumors that he may suggest the establishment of a U. S. Bitcoin strategic reserve, a measure that may have a ripple effect on the market. Such an announcement could weigh on the Bitcoin prices, possibly pushing them to a new all-time high (ATH), given the market’s expectation of better regulation.

On the same note, the organizers of the conference have also expressed their concern with the detention of Ross Ulbricht. Ulbricht, the founder of the Silk Road darknet market is in jail and received a life sentence without parole. Some in the crypto community have posited that lobbying for the reduction of Ulbricht’s sentence in the Bitcoin Conference should be the most important issue for politicians courting the Bitcoin community. Consequently, either of the presidential aspirants may delve on that.
