Notably, a bold new forecast has shaken up the XRP community, as crypto analyst BarriC declared that the token could explode from $2 to $1,000 much faster than anyone expects. His comments have caused a bit of optimism among investors, many of whom are already eyeing a new all-time high as momentum builds following the cryptocurrency’s recent quarterly close above $2.25.
Taking to the social media platform X, prominent analyst BarriC predicted that the XRP price will surge to $1,000 a lot sooner than most people anticipate. Notably, BarriC’s prediction of a surge draws on the cryptocurrency’s historical performance.
Back in 2017, XRP was trading at just $0.006 before launching into a parabolic bull run that took it as high as $3.40 by early 2018. Investors back then underestimated this move, and only a few were able to get in at the earliest. This $3.40 all-time high has been maintained by the altcoin for over seven years, but the situation might change very soon. The altcoin’s current price level, which is just above $2, is a mirror of that early accumulation phase.
According to BarriC, investors today may similarly be underestimating how quickly XRP can move. “People buying XRP at $0.006 in 2017 weren’t expecting it to skyrocket to $3.80,” he wrote on X and suggested that a similar underestimation is happening today.
His claim, “XRP will skyrocket from $2 to $1,000 a lot sooner than people anticipate,” has been met with mixed reactions of both excitement and skepticism on the social media platform. Some community members were quick to support BarriC’s outlook, with one user responding, “XRP $1,400 is very realistic.” The statement was in reference to its 63,000% rise in the 2017-2018 bull run emphasized by BarriC. Another user commented that although XRP will definitely reach that price level, it won’t be very soon, and it will be “maybe sometime in 2030 to 2040.”
Others, however, urged caution, pointing out that XRP is no longer an underdog. Unlike in 2017, XRP’s growth is now very much anticipated, which may dampen the element of surprise that helped its rally seven years ago. Another factor is the current state of the altcoin, along with the significant inflows that could lead to a rally of 63,000% from its current price level.
One of the commenters noted that back in 2018, it was possible to invest as little as $6,000 and own as many as 1 million XRP tokens. Another community member noted that although XRP might not reach such an absurd price target, it is going to break out soon to around $10.
At the time of writing, XRP is trading at $2.33, up by 2.6% in the past 24 hours. Reaching the $1,000 price target would translate to a 42,800% return from the current levels.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission postponed decisions on multiple crypto-related exchange-traded fund (ETF) applications on May 13, including those filed by Grayscale and BlackRock.
The delays extend the agency’s review timeline and align with expectations that it will grant no approvals before the final quarter of 2025.
Grayscale’s proposed spot ETFs for Solana (SOL) and Litecoin (LTC) were deferred. The new filing deadlines for both are August 11 and October 10.
The SEC also delayed action on BlackRock’s request to enable in-kind redemptions for its approved spot Bitcoin (BTC) ETF. BlackRock’s request has no updated deadline, which centers on technical mechanics rather than initial approval.
Separately, the SEC acknowledged the 19b-4 filing for a 21Shares spot Dogecoin (DOGE) ETF, initiating the official review timeline for the product. This filing begins the countdown toward an eventual decision under the agency’s statutory schedule.
The agency’s latest moves follow a broader pattern of staggered reviews across more than 70 crypto ETF proposals, which remain in various evaluation stages. On April 29, the SEC delayed decisions on five other crypto-related ETFs.
Bloomberg ETF analysts James Seyffart and Eric Balchunas described the current cycle of delays as routine.
Seyffart said the delay was “expected,” and most of the affected products face final deadlines no earlier than October.
Balchunas added that the SEC is unlikely to issue substantive approvals until recently confirmed Chair Paul Atkins completes internal meetings and strategy sessions with staff.
He said:
“They’ve been taking outside meetings with people. Probably coming up with a strategy. After that, likely approvals.”
SEC decisions on crypto ETF applications follow a multi-stage statutory process based on the publication of proposed rule changes in the Federal Register.
The agency typically operates on review intervals of 45, 90, 180, and 240 days, allowing multiple opportunities to delay decisions before reaching a final deadline.
The regulator’s recent actions are consistent with its historical practice of extending reviews to the full statutory limits before issuing decisions.
No ETF in this group faces a final deadline before late in the third quarter, leaving applicants and investors awaiting further clarity on the regulatory trajectory for crypto-linked investment vehicles.

The XRP ETFs have become one of the most anticipated filings in the crypto space, with over 10 already crossing the desk of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). While expectations were that the regulator would approve XRP ETFs for trading at the start of May, the decision has been postponed once again. What this has done is increase expectations for these exchange-traded funds, with most of the market patiently waiting for when the green light will come.
There are numerous reasons for why investors are anticipating the XRP ETFs. Some of these include easier access to investing in the altcoin by institutions without them having to buy XRP directly, as well as increased demand as the cryptocurrency goes mainstream. All of this is expected to culminate in the rising value of the token and possibly be the catalyst that helps the XRP price break toward a new all-time high.
Dan Tapiero, the founder of 10T Holdings, a US-based equity firm, has also come forward to explain why the XRP ETFs are being anticipated. In an interview with CoinDesk, the founder starts out by lauding XRP’s resilience so far, as it has managed to survive over the years. The altcoin has been through low market participation due to the SEC’s lawsuit spanning over four years, and has managed to come out and maintain its position as one of the most valuable cryptocurrencies.
Speaking about the crypto firm itself, Ripple, Tapiero explains that it has managed to turn itself into a conglomerate of assets in the ecosystem. Given this, the private equity founder believes that “there’s value there”, and as such, there are investors who are anticipating the launch of the XRP ETFs.
Another reason why these XRP ETFs are being anticipated is because “it’s made in America now.” This refers to the inclusion of XRP in Donald Trump’s strategic crypto reserve, alongside the likes of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and Cardano. Additionally, Ripple’s founder, Brad Garlinghouse, continues to work with President Donald Trump, feeding the narrative of XRP being “Made in America.”
The launch of the XRP ETFs is expected to be incredibly bullish for the XRP price, and the basis of this has been the reaction of BTC and ETH to the launch of the Spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. Before the launch of the Spot Bitcoin ETFs, the BTC price was trading below $50,000. However, in the months following the approval, Bitcoin rose by more than 100% to reach new all-time highs above $100,000.
If the XRP ETFs are approved this year and follow this pattern, then it is expected that the XRP price will cross $4 this year, beating its 2017 high of $3.8. The influx of institutional funds would make an impact, especially given Ripple’s mission to make XRP the digital asset of choice for institutions and banks.
