New data reveals that a handful of altcoins, including Cardano (ADA) and XRP, are among the most googled crypto assets of 2022.

According to new research by personal finance website DollarGeek, Bitcoin (BTC) is the most searched-for digital asset both in the world and in the US, followed by popular dog-themed meme assets Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Dogecoin (DOGE).

The statistics show that the largest crypto asset by market cap was searched for 4.57 million times on average per month in the US during 2022, while SHIB received 1.29 million searches and DOGE saw 729,000.

Globally, the king crypto was searched for 28.4 million times per month, while Shiba Inu and Dogecoin were searched for 4.43 million and 5.85 million times, respectively.

As stated by a DollarGeek spokesperson,

“Bitcoin remains the most popular cryptocurrency in the US and around the world, having been the first cryptocurrency in wider use since its release in 2009. However, its alternatives, while smaller by a large margin, are catching it in popularity, illustrated by the sheer number of searches for some of the youngest cryptocurrencies.”

Rounding out the top five are leading smart contract platform Ethereum (ETH) and its competitor Avalanche (AVAX). The layer-1 blockchains saw 611,000 and 534,000 US monthly searches, respectively, and 3.8 million and 861,000 searches globally this year.

The other five digital currencies included on the top 10 list include BTC alternative Litecoin (LTC) in 6th place, Cardano at 7th, XRP at 8th, decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol Safemoon (SFM) at 9th, and quantum-resistant blockchain Nexus (NXS) at 10th.

Trends Study Says Dogecoin Is the Most Googled Cryptocurrency in the US – Bitcoin News https://cryptocurrencypanther.com/2022/04/05/trends-study-says-dogecoin-is-the-most-googled-cryptocurrency-in-the-us-bitcoin-news/ https://cryptocurrencypanther.com/2022/04/05/trends-study-says-dogecoin-is-the-most-googled-cryptocurrency-in-the-us-bitcoin-news/#respond Tue, 05 Apr 2022 20:42:53 +0000 https://cryptocurrencypanther.com/2022/04/05/trends-study-says-dogecoin-is-the-most-googled-cryptocurrency-in-the-us-bitcoin-news/

According to a recent study analyzing Google Trends data, the cryptocurrency dogecoin’s search volume in the United States was highest in the most states as compared to other cryptos. The research also details that the leading crypto asset in terms of market capitalization, bitcoin, was the second most popular crypto asset, with ten different states.

Dogecoin Scores 23 States, While Bitcoin Commands 10

A recent study authored by Coin Insider combed through Google Trends data to find out which crypto asset was searched for by the most states. The research indicates that the meme-based cryptocurrency dogecoin (DOGE) is the most popular in the United States, at least according to Google Trends data. DOGE scored 23 states as Coin Insider’s data explains.

Trends Study Says Dogecoin Is the Most Googled Cryptocurrency in the US

Dogecoin (DOGE) is currently the 12th largest crypto asset in terms of valuation as the crypto asset’s market cap is $19.8 billion. DOGE also holds the title as the top meme-coin asset out of the $36.4 billion worth of meme-based cryptocurrencies. Coin Insider’s metrics show dogecoin captured states like North Dakota, Montana, Illinois, Florida, Hawaii, New Mexico, New Jersey, and Oregon.

Meanwhile, bitcoin (BTC) scored ten states which include Idaho, Arkansas, Mississippi, Connecticut, Alaska, and New Hampshire. According to Google Trends (GT) data, the search term “bitcoin” in the U.S. currently has a score of 29 out of a top score of 100. The last time the search query for “bitcoin” hit a score of 100 was during the week of May 16-22, 2021.

Ethereum, Shiba Inu, Cardano Trail Behind

Ethereum (ETH) captured eight states which include Ohio, Virginia, Georgia, Indiana, and Louisiana. Behind ethereum’s heels in the study is shiba inu (SHIB), as the meme-based crypto asset collected a total of seven states in the country. After hitting 100 during the week of October 24-30, 2021, the search term “SHIB” now has a zero rating.

The smart contract token cardano (ADA) captured Colorado, according to Coin Insider’s findings. While ADA is up 40% during the last 30 days, year-to-date stats show cardano has only gained 2.6%. The search term “cardano” in the U.S. tapped a high of 100 during the week of May 9-15, 2021, according to GT metrics. This week, the search query for “cardano” currently has a GT score of 18.

Coin Insider’s research claims dogecoin’s popularity is partly due to Elon Musk’s endorsement of the meme-coin in recent times. “The rise in interest can be partially attributed to the endorsement of Elon Musk who stated in 2021 that Tesla would accept Dogecoin as a form of payment,” Coin Insider’s study says.

Dogecoin is the most ‘Googled’ cryptocurrency in the US, https://cryptocurrencypanther.com/2021/11/29/dogecoin-is-the-most-googled-cryptocurrency-in-the-us/ https://cryptocurrencypanther.com/2021/11/29/dogecoin-is-the-most-googled-cryptocurrency-in-the-us/#respond Mon, 29 Nov 2021 10:37:04 +0000 https://cryptocurrencypanther.com/2021/11/29/dogecoin-is-the-most-googled-cryptocurrency-in-the-us/

Dogecoin–a meme cryptocurrency and Shiba Inu rival–has topped the list for the most searched cryptocurrencies in the US, beating the likes of the most valuable cryptocurrency such as Ethereum and Bitcoin, revealed research by The Advisor Coach, a financial advisor.

According to the analysis of the Google Trends data, Dogecoin was the most searched cryptocurrency in October, with a total of 23 states, including Illinois, Florida, Hawaii, and New Jersey searching for the keyword ‘Dogecoin’. There was an average of 7 million searches for content about Dogecoin.

Dogecoin (DOGE) was developed by software engineers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmers in 2013 as a joke, but it is not a joke anymore—the level of interest in DOGE far exceeds the combined averages for Bitcoin and Ether.

The rise of Dogecoin is speculated to be fuelled after tech billionaire Elon Musk, who has been a staunch promoter of meme coins— said in May that electric vehicle company Tesla, might accept Dogecoin as a mode of payment.

It is worth noting that Bitcoin has emerged as the second most popular crypto asset, with more than 10 states looking to invest in Bitcoin, including Connecticut, Alaska, Mississippi, and New Hampshire. And Ether stands third-highest number in the research. US states seeking to invest in Ethereum the most include Georgia, Louisiana, Virginia, and Ohio.

Lithium was a popular cryptocurrency in the state of Pennsylvania, and Cardano has emerged as the most popular cryptocurrency in only one state — Colorado.

“With more than 6,500 cryptocurrencies available globally, it is fascinating to see currencies that may not be the most valuable are still the most sought after,” said an Advisor Coach spokesperson, as quoted by NDTV.

Meanwhile, Dogecoin’s rival Shiba Inu was the most discussed cryptocurrency on Twitter during October, as per the data compiled by ICO Analytics. The analysis firm revealed the 20 most discussed cryptocurrencies on Twitter and Shiba Inu has emerged as a clear winner, receiving a 22 percent share of all crypto assets discussions on the platform, dwarfing Ethereum by 8.1 percent and Bitcoin by 7.2 percent.

Data for October by the company shows that Ether, Bitcoin, and Dogecoin occupied the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively, in the Twitter popularity index.
