As you may already know, in July 2020, Harper Business published the book “The Infinite Machine: How an Army of Crypto-hackers Is Building the Next Internet with Ethereum” by journalist Camila Russo.
Here is what the publisher says about this book on Amazon.com:
“The Infinite Machine introduces Vitalik’s ingenious idea and unfolds Ethereum’s chaotic beginnings. It then explores the brilliant innovation and reckless greed the platform—an infinitely adaptable foundation for experimentation and new applications—has unleashed and the consequences that resulted as the frenzy surrounding it grew: increased regulatory scrutiny, incipient Wall Street interest, and the founding team’s effort to get the Ethereum platform to scale so it can eventually be accessible to the masses.“
And here is a review on Amazon.com by Chris Burniske, co-founder at Placeholder Ventures:
“The Infinite Machine is the most thorough account of Ethereum’s past, present, and likely future that I’ve encountered. Russo’s background as a Bloomberg News reporter combined with her immersion in Ethereum makes her uniquely qualified to tell Ethereum’s story. Reminiscent of Nathaniel Popper’s work in its storytelling, finesse, and dedication to detail, The Infinite Machine is slated to be Ethereum’s Digital Gold. Russo’s timing is good, as Ethereum is poised to rise in the mainstream as Bitcoin’s younger, more capable sibling.“
A report by Deadline published on Thursday (April 21), “Scott Free Productions has come aboard to produce an film adaptation of the bestselling book.”
The report went on to say “the film will be written for the screen and directed by Shyam Madiraju, with Ridley Scott, Tom Moran and Vera Meyer of Scott Free producing alongside Alejandro Miranda of Versus Entertainment.”
Russo said:
“It’s incredibly exciting to have Ridley Scott and the crew at Scott Free produce the movie of The Infinite Machine alongside us. I can’t imagine a better team to turn the riveting story about the people behind the most revolutionary technology since the internet into a feature film that will capture the hearts of our generation.“
In a tweet published on April 22, Hoskinson, who is also the co-founder of Ethereum, asked Twitter users who they thought should be cast to play him in this movie.
Twitter users were quick to come up with a number of actors to portray Hoskinson in the film, ranging from serious takes to the more hilarious. One user was able to generate a reply from Cardano’s founder by insinuating that the developer should be played by long-time action film star Steven Seagal.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson, who also took an active part in founding Ethereum, has posted a joking tweet, pondering which actor would best suit the character of Hosk in the movie about Ethereum that is being shot at the moment.
This is not the first movie related to crypto that has been planned or shot recently. However, it could be the first one to actually make it to theaters.
Well since they are finally making the movie. Who should play the Charles Hoskinson character?

It will feature Vitalik Buterin and other co-founders of the second biggest blockchain platform, including Charles Hoskinson who left the project later on to create his own platform—Cardano—a few years later. Cardano is currently among the top 10 DLT platforms and its native coin, ADA, is the biggest coin working on the PoS consensus, the shift to which was planned by Ethereum several years ago as part of the Ethereum 2.0 upgrade and is being gradually tested this year.

Recent projects that were widely discussed for a short while include an action movie, “Crypto,” starring Kurt Russell, and the movie “King of the Jungle”—a biopic about crypto influencer John McAfee, founder of the McAfee antivirus company.
The candidate to play the “crypto baron” McAfee changed several times. Johnny Depp was rejected by McAfee, and he shared in a tweet that Morgan Freeman would be the best choice.
However, on June 23, 2021, McAfee was found dead in a Spanish prison where he had been awaiting to be deported to the U.S. to do jail time for averting tax payments for roughly eight years.
The official version is that McAfee took his own life by hanging himself. However, his wife Janice doubts that and insisted on an investigation. Prior to his death, McAfee frequently discussed the suicide of imprisoned U.S. financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was also found dead in his prison cell.
McAfee believes that his death was a setup and stated that if here were found dead in the same circumstances, it would not be a suicide.
The former CEO of McAfee Associates was a renowned libertarian who often poured harsh criticism on the U.S. government and law enforcement organizations. McAfee believed taxes to be unconstitutional. He was a zealous supporter of blockchain and privacy coins and believed Bitcoin to be stone age tech.
The aforementioned “Crypto” movie came out in 2019, however, its rating on IMDb is only 5.2 out of 10.
Legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott will take the history of Ethereum to the big screen. Via his production company, Scott Free Productions will adapt Camila Russo’s book “The Infinite Machine” into a movie.

According to a post from Deadline, the film will be written and directed by Shyam Madiraju (Harami, 2020). In addition to Scott, the production will be managed by Tom Moran and Vera Meyer with Alejandro Miranda from Versus Entertainment, the post clarified.
Russo told Deadline the following as the materialization of her book to the big picture moves forward:
It’s incredibly exciting to have Ridley Scott and the crew at Scott Free produce the movie of The Infinite Machine alongside us. I can’t imagine a better team to turn the riveting story about the people behind the most revolutionary technology since the internet into a feature film that will capture the hearts of our generation.
The film will be partially funded with a community treasury, per its official website, via a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), and with traditional funding strategies. The intention of the project has been clear from the start: to “become a blockbuster movie for the mainstream”.
The Infinite Machine DAO launched an NFT collection, called Genesis, to support the project. The DAO itself is the movie’s executive producer. The proceeds of the sales will be distributed in two phases, the website explained. The first phase is the movie budget which is expected to be valued at $16 million.
The NFT collection sales will be equally distributed amongst the 36 intervening artists which will receive 22.5% of the budget. 10% will be sent to a community treasury pool to fund the DAO, and the 67.5% will be used for the movie.
In its second phase, the project will distribute 22.5% of the NFT sales to the artists, 25% to the collection core team and contributors, and 52.5% to the community pool. NFT holders can have active participation in the project as Associate Producers and will have a voice in future projects.
According to the ETHMovie official website:
The Infinite Machine movie will be the first of many productions, content and artists the DAO will support. The organization will be a vehicle for the Ethereum community to organize people and capital to continue funding content creators and artists.
At the time of writing, the collection reached over 100 Ethereum (ETH) in trading volume on the popular marketplace OpenSea. The movie is expected to begin shooting between Q3 2022 and Q1 next year with a potential release in 2023.
