As the US SEC prepares to make its final decision regarding Spot Bitcoin ETF approvals, the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has officially listed the Spot ETFs tickers from investment management firm, VanEck.

VanEck’s Spot ETF Ticker Listed on DTCC

American investment management firm VanEck’s Spot Bitcoin ETF has recently appeared on the active and pre-launch list of the DTCC. VanEck’s ETF can be identified by the ticker ‘HODL’ on the DTCC’s official platform. 

This move positions VanEck as a key player in the evolving landscape of Spot ETF investments. Additionally, the listing is seen as a crucial step towards integrating Spot Bitcoin ETFs into the mainstream financial sector if the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) decides to approve Spot Bitcoin ETFs. 

Alongside VanEck, WisdomTree’s Spot Bitcoin ETF ticker, ‘BTCW’ has also been officially listed on the DTCC website. The investment management firm previously submitted its Spot BTC ETF application to the US SEC in June 2023. However, the regulator has consistently delayed approval of WisdomTree’s Spot Bitcoin ETF application. 

The US SEC has also delayed 13 Spot Bitcoin ETF applications from prominent companies such as BlackRock, ARK Invest, Grayscale, and others. The regulatory agency faces a deadline of January 10, to either accept or reject these Spot Bitcoin ETF applications. 

Although there is a possibility for the SEC to decline Spot BTC ETFs several experts, including Bloomberg analysts, James Seyffart and Eric Balchunas have revealed a 90% chance of the regulator approving Spot BTC ETFs in January.

VanEck Reveals $72 Million Bitcoin ETF Seed Fund

On Monday, January 8, VanEck submitted an amended Spot Bitcoin ETF S-1 filing to the SEC. In its filing, VanEck disclosed that the financial company had purchased 1,640.92489329 BTC worth $72.5 million on January 5, to support its Spot ETF.

The substantial seeding will provide a solid foundation for VanEck’s Spot Bitcoin ETF, potentially paving the way for increased participation by institutional investors. 

In addition to VanEck’s Seed Creation Baskets, major asset management companies in the Spot Bitcoin ETF race like BlackRock, Bitwise, and Fidelity have announced their various seed funds.

Bitwise revealed a $200 million seed fund made by Pantera Capital to support its Spot BTC ETF. The asset management company has also put forward $500,000 to fund its proposed Spot BTC ETF. 

Meanwhile, BlackRock and Fidelity have announced plans to seed their Spot Bitcoin ETFs with $10 million and $20 million respectively. BlackRock previously submitted an amended S-1 filing to the SEC in December, revealing a 227.9 BTC purchase to seed its Spot ETF by January 3.

AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc (NYSE: AMC) CEO Adam Aron shared updates related to cryptocurrencies, citing a “big opportunity,” on the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call on Wednesday. The CEO said the movie theater chain would enable online payments in Dogecoin (CRYPTO: DOGE) and Shiba Inu (CRYPTO: SHIB) in March.

Teradyne (NASDAQ: TER) Shares are trading 1.2% lower in Thursday’s pre-market session as Morgan Stanley analyst Joseph Moore downgraded Teradyne from Overweight to Equal-Weight and announced a $132 price target.

Occidental Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: OXY): Shares of oil and energy companies are trading higher amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which has caused supply concerns and lifted energy prices. OPEC+ also reportedly stuck to its planned 400,000 barrel-per-day production increase.

Barclays Bank iPath Pure Beta Crude Oil ETN (NYSE: OIL) is trading 1.42% lower in Thursday’s pre-market session, investors eye the price of oil as the Russia-Ukraine conflict continues. 

VanEck Russia ETF (BATS: RSX): Van Eck’s Russia ETF has attracted a surge of trader interest and drawn comparisons to last year’s so-called meme stock frenzy, as investors seek ways to capitalize on market gyrations caused by the Ukraine crisis. Shares are trading 0.56% higher in Thursday’s premarket session. 

Clover Health Investments Corp (NASDAQ: CLOV): A U.S. judge has ruled that venture investor Chamath Palihapitiya, Clover Health and its executives must face a lawsuit that claims they misled investors about the health insurance company when it went public via one of Palihapitiya’s many SPACs. Shares are trading 1.5% lower in Thursday’s premarket session.

Forestar Group (NYSE: FOR): Forestar Group saw a decrease in earnings per share from 85 cents per share in the fourth quarter to 81 cents in the first. Shares are flat in Thursday’s premarket session.

VanEck Russia ETF (BATS: RSX) The VanEck Russia ETF continues to collapse, falling 20.34% in Wednesday’s premarket session. The RSX fund is designed to track the MVIS Russia Index, which includes the largest and most liquid companies in Russia.

AMC Entertainment (NYSE: AMC) AMC reported fourth-quarter revenue of $1.17 billion, beating a consensus estimate of $1.09 billion, according to Benzinga Pro. The total represented the highest quarterly revenue for the company in two full years. CEO Adam Aron says AMC will begin accepting Shiba Inu (CRYPTO: SHIB) and Dogecoin (CRYPTO: DOGE) as payment in “a couple of weeks.”

Sofi Technologies (NASDAQ: SOFI) reported fourth-quarter adjusted revenue of $279.88 million, up 54% year-over-year. The figure beat a consensus estimate of $279.29 million, according to Benzinga Pro. Shares were trading 15.29% higher in Wednesday’s premarket session. 

GameStop (NYSE: GME) The Securities and Exchange Commission recently proposed rules that would expand reporting of short sale positions. The agency said it aims to gain better insight into market conditions like the January 2021 short squeezes that convulsed the prices of meme stocks like GameStop and Koss.

Ionis Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: IONS) Guggenheim analyst Debjit Chattopadhyay initiated coverage on Ionis with a Buy rating and announced a price target of $64.

Beyond Meat (NASDAQ: BYND) A whale with a lot of money to spend has taken a noticeably bullish stance on Beyond Meat. From the overall spotted trades, 28 are puts, for a total amount of $1,364,567, and four calls for a total amount of $139,245.

Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) Tesla announced its next-gen battery tech back in 2020 and at the time stated the new 4680 battery would allow for a $25,000 electric car. Panasonic has confirmed it will begin mass production of 4680 batteries for Tesla by the end of March 2024.

Teradyne Inc (NASDAQ: TER) After a lackluster fourth-quarter earnings report, several analysts including Morgan Stanley and Piper Sandler slashed price targets for the semiconductor tester.
