Airswap is a project that is developing a decentralised exchange protocol (DEX) for ERC20 tokens. They hope to offer traders a secure and affordable way to swap their tokens off-chain.<\/p>\n

Airswap is built on the Ethereum protocol and it uses smart contract technology to match the orders of the buyers and sellers. Given that they are handled off-chain, they are much faster than other DEXs such as EtherDelta. <\/p>\n

The utility token powering Airswap is the AST token. When a trader wants to exchange one coin for the other then they will use AST to make this market. The market maker will have to stake these AST in order to provide the liquidity in these other tokens. AST is also used in order to pay trading fees to these market makers. <\/p>\n

The team behind Airswap is quite experienced and have experience in algorithmic trading as well as software engineering. They are backed by some pretty influential people in the space including Joe Lubin of Consensys and Mike Novogratz of Galaxy Digital. <\/p>\n

Airswap completed a crowdsale ICO in 2017 where they managed to raise a total of $33m in exchange for the AST tokens. They have been quite active on the project and have been releasing constant updates to their DEX protocol. <\/p>\n

AST tokens hit the exchanges after the ICO and they followed the rest of the market through the rally and subsequent bear market. The bulk of the volume is currently taking place on the Binance exchange and there appears to be high levels of turnover (and hence liquidity). <\/p>\n

Once you have your AST tokens you can store them on any ERC20 capable wallet. These include the likes of MetaMask, Ledger, Trezor, and Opera.<\/p>\n
