In the last 24 hours, Bitcoin and Ethereum have advanced in value along with an overall rise in crypto-market cap. Meme coins and metaverse tokens suffer.

Crypto prices today: Bitcoin below $17,000, Ethereum up by 1.10%, Cardano & Solana slip
By Nidhi Bhardwaj: As of 21 December, the prices of top cryptocurrencies traded in the green. The value of Bitcoin increased by 0.61 percent to $16,831.50 but still remained below $17,000. This morning saw an increase in the value of the crypto market cap by 0.35 percent to $808.56B. On the other hand, the total crypto market volume fluctuated with a decrease in its price by 4.08 percent to $33.47B.
At the time of writing this article(1000 IST), the price of Ethereum is up by 1.10 percent to $1,208.60. The value of coins such as Cosmos grew by 0.34 percent to $8.90, and Monero rose by 1.11 percent to $147.21.
However, the price of Cardano slipped 3.76 percent to $0.255679, and Solana plunged 0.37 percent to $12.25. Polygon suffered by 1.26 percent to $0.794766, as per CoinMarketCap.
Contrastingly, the price of Cardano plunged 1.44 percent to $0.252436, and Solana dropped 1.99 percent to $12.04. Polygon suffered by 0.50 percent to $0.793455, as per CoinMarketCap.
On Wednesday, XDC Network, OKB, Maker, and Cronos topped the charts with 5.94 percent, 3.34 percent, 2.63 percent, and 1.88 percent respectively. In comparison, Ethereum POW, Chain, Terra Classic, and Lido DAO were the top losers.
Meme coins mark lows
The price of Dogecoin is down by 2.36 percent to $0.072715, with a decline in Shiba Inu’s value by 1.22 percent to $0.000008. Indeed, top meme coins remained low, with a slip in the prices of Dogelon Mars by 1.43 percent to $2.94e-7, as per the last 24 hours.
Metaverse tokens suffer
Metaverse tokens traded low on Wednesday. The price of Axie Infinity was down by 0.56 percent to $6.82 and Decentraland decreased by 3.24 percent to $0.306178. Sandbox recorded lows of 1.23 percent to $0.441063.
