The AMD 9004 Series processors combine both speed and performance thereby helping to reduce overall system energy costs.

On Tuesday, March 14, America’s popular semiconductor manufacturer Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) announced the launch of high-performance and energy-efficient AMD EPYC Embedded 9004 Series processors.

AMD Processors

Powered by the Zen4 architecture, these embedded processors provide technology and features for embedded networking, security/firewall, and storage systems for enterprise and cloud computing requirements.

AMD stated that the 9004 Series processors combine both – speed as well as performance thereby helping to reduce overall system energy costs. In total, this Series has 10 processor models offering performance options from 16 to 96 cores.

The high performance and power scalability of the AMD EPYC Embedded 9004 Series processors make them an ideal fit for embedded system OEMs. Besides, these processors come with enhanced security features that can minimize threats and provide a secure compute environment. Thus, it makes them well-suited for enterprise-grade performance and security needs. Rajneesh Gaur, corporate vice president and general manager, Embedded Solutions Group, AMD said:

“Supporting enterprise-grade reliability, AMD EPYC Embedded 9004 Series processors are targeted for heavy workload, ‘always-on’ embedded systems requiring exceptional compute performance and I/O agility in a power-optimized profile. With the launch of the EPYC Embedded 9004 Series processors, we’re bringing the power of data center-level computing to embedded networking, security, storage and industrial applications.”

On Tuesday, March 14, AMD stock rallied by more than 6.63% on the development closing at $87.45 USD. The AMD stock has delivered a strong performance so far in 2023, gaining over 36% year-to-date.

Onboarding Siemens Multinational as a Customer

The AMD EPYC Embedded 9004 Series processors will provide its customers with a variety of embedded networking, security, storage, and industrial systems that can operate in challenging conditions. Multinational company Siemens is a leading OEM customer of AMD and will be using the Embedded 9004 Series processors for next-gen firewalls, software-defined routers, as well as enterprise and cloud storage systems.

The AMD EPYC Embedded 9004 Series processor powers up Siemens’ new SIMATIC IPC RS-828A server. Thibault de Assi, head of business line industrial computing, Siemens, said:

“Siemens selected the AMD EPYC Embedded 9004 Series devices for our new high-performance, data center-class server because the processors reliably deliver performance and power efficiency while being able to operate seamlessly in extreme temperatures, as well as in settings with vibration or electromagnetic interference. With AMD leadership in the data center, we have been able to leverage its exceptional expertise for our industrial-grade products, where performance and efficiency are paramount. The new processors will open new opportunities for the industrial market.”
