In August 2021 trading turnover on the Swiss stock exchange reached CHF84.6 billion, 4.3 per cent less than in the previous month, while the number of transactions decreased by 5.4 per cent to a total of 4,328,210. Since the beginning of 2021, trading turnover reached CHF 867.7 billion with a total of 42,557,169 transactions. 

The SMI rose by 2.4 per cent and reached 12,411.1 points at the end of the month, registering a new all-time high of 12,573.4 points on 18 August 2021 (closing price).

In August, products with crypto currencies as underlyings reached a trading turnover of CHF587.1 million on the Swiss stock exchange. In total, 117 products were traded and 25,789 transactions concluded – an increase of 155 per cent and 106 per cent, respectively. The most traded product was an ETP, AADA on Cardano, with CHF 51.9 million and 2,655 transactions.
